Dr. Amelia J. Wiggins Robotic Joint Replacement | Sports Medicine | Orthobiologics
Dr. Amelia Wiggins is a board certified and fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in robotic total joint replacement, knee & shoulder arthroscopy, sports injuries and orthobiologics. Equipped with nearly a decade of experience, Dr. Wiggins has particularly extensive experience when it comes to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports medicine injuries. Dr. Wiggins treats patients at our Eastgate, Anderson, and West Chester locations and is assisted by Kenzie Hopper, PA-C.
As a Division I student-athlete at the University of Louisville, Dr. Wiggins was a skilled soccer player and rower, earning All-American honors throughout college. Unsurprisingly, it was Dr. Wiggins’ own ACL reconstructions as a competitive collegiate athlete that sparked her passion for pursuing medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Wiggins enrolled in the A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
She went on to complete a residency for orthopedic surgery at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. With a keen interest in sports medicine, Dr. Wiggins went on to complete a prestigious sports medicine fellowship with Wellington Orthopaedic Sports Medicine / University of Cincinnati. During her time as a fellow, she authored an award-winning paper on the risk of secondary ACL injury in young athletes.
When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Wiggins enjoys time with her husband and two sons. She continues to live an active lifestyle that includes hiking, yoga, rowing, and biking. Her athletic pursuits keep her in touch with the local sports community and athletes of all ages.
